LOCATION

The Central Structure sits at the intersection of Queen and Albert Streets and represents the symbolic heart of Queen Street Mall and the Brisbane CBD.

As the mall’s highest‑profile location, it attracts exceptionally high pedestrian volumes and features a high roof that provides partial weather protection. The space is best suited to small‑scale sampling activities that do not require power or water and is not appropriate for large activations or those requiring a significant footprint.

SPACE AVAILABLE

Where an activation area greater than 5 m × 5 m is proposed, this must be discussed with Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) prior to approval.

All activations must be designed to maintain public amenity, protect pedestrian movement, and minimise impacts on surrounding traders.

Layouts must utilise the central area of the space and be positioned away from braille trails. A minimum clearance of 1 metre is required on either side of all braille trails.

BEDA will provide guidance to support the development of site plans and ensure all requirements are met. All site plans must be submitted to BEDA for review and approval prior to installation.

AUDIO, LIGHTING & EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE

BEDA has a small, battery‑powered PA system available for hire, suitable for speeches and light entertainment. Availability is subject to demand and must be arranged in advance.

STORAGE

There is no general storage available at this location, and BEDA does not accept deliveries prior to the event. All equipment and materials must be removed from site immediately following the conclusion of the event.

Limited use of the QSM stage for short‑term storage may be permitted, subject to availability, other event bookings, and prior approval from BEDA.

POWER, WATER & AMENITIES

There is no access to power or water at this location.

Activations requesting to bring in their own power source must get pre-approval by BEDA. Fuel powered generators are not permitted in Queen Street Mall.

SOUND LEVELS

Restrictions apply to sound levels. Amplification is permitted, with BEDA staff onsite to monitor sound levels and ensure compliance.
